ESALAB offers objective model and tools for software appraisal

The OSAM model (Objective Software Appraisal Model) results from the experience of ESALAB in the evaluation and the analysis of software, and takes into account specificities of their creation processes.

OSAM is founded on an original analysis tool, designed by ESALAB, providing software inventory as well as precise and relevant countings by a semantic analysis of the codes and their structures, and thus comprehensive set of data to determine their reconstitution cost:

ESALAB offers comparative analysis services to detect and evidence counterfeit software.

ESALAB has developed “SIMILE Workshop”, an unrivaled and innovative suite of proprietary software tool, which allows the detection of :

  • Copyright infringement by dubious object code in comparing files  with any known copyrighted source code;
  • Software counterfeit in comparing 2 sets of source code.

“SIMILE Workshop” is a suite of proprietary software tools dedicated to automate the analysis process. “Simile Workshop” was designed as an implementation of the AFC-test method of comparison that Dr. Randall Davis formulated in the early 90s for the Computer Associates Altai case. The power of the “Simile Workshop" software comes from applying results of text algorithmic and biology data processing research. It has been developed in conjunction with the Gaspard-Monge Institute of Computer Sciences, University of Marne-la-Vallée, France.

ESALAB provides its services mainly in support of court-mandated forensic analysis. It also helps companies in the protection of their intangible software assets or investment firms in the value assessment of software assets .
